Focus

I have to admit that I am a self improvement junkie - although I am very comfortable with who I am, I also feel that there is always room for improvement in my life.  Last May I signed up for the Quantum Leap program through the Peak Potentials company.  In those classes, the trainers are always telling us to focus on one thing at a time before moveing on to something new.  They even passed along a great acronym for focus, which I love: Follow One Course Until Successful.  There are also a bunch of inspiring daily emails I subscribe to including the Daily Om message of the day, Wisdom News from Lissa Coffey, and the Daily Motivator with Ralph Marston.  Lately there has been a theme of focus in those emails as well.  This morning I decided to pull a card from my Healing with the Angels Oracle Card deck.  The card that I pulled was "Focus".  The booklet that comes with the card deck describes the card meaning this way:

Think about what you want, not what you don't want.  Guard your thoughts carefully, because they create your experiences.

Sometimes it seems that our thoughts choose us, but that is never the case.  We always choose our thoughts - every moment.  Our thoughts always have an effect, and there are no neutral thoughts.  One-half second before you hold a thought, you decide to hold it.  So, with practice, you can learn to monitor and alter your thoughts.  This is the equivalent of putting your hands on the steering wheel of your life.

You may believe that your concentration abilities are impaired, yet the infallible mind of God is within your own mind.  You can experience remarkable feats of concentration by affirming: "I am now able to focus my mind at will.  I hold only loving thoughts, and my angels act as my gatekeepers in establishing a steady stream of thoughts of love."

So today, I am doing my best to follow this advice.  Between all of the repeats in various forums on the topic of focus over the past month and the lovely advice on this card I pulled this morning, I'm finally able to hear the message.  I hereby commit to FOCUS as often as possible over the course of the coming months until I have this concept ingrained into my DNA as well as my heart and mind.
